All things Shopify and commerce
Hi,
Due to the farse that is Brexit my time is better spent not selling to EU countries. Why? Because of the time it takes to fill in commercial invoices and the big one is a proof or origin certificate.
A proof of origin certificate, the way I read it, has to be supplied with all goods sent to the EU members states. This then means the customer wont get stung by some nasty import duty.
So unless I am wrong about this and I hope I am, how do I turn off some countries to stop sales?
You can choose not to ship to certain countries, alter this in your Shipping section. However, you cannot stop certain countries seeing your website... they will see it and try to order perhaps but it will tell them you don't ship to their country when they try and checkout. The only thing you have control over is which countries you ship to.
Hi @Simon_Westwood ,
As indicated above, you can adjust your Shipping settings by removing EU countries from your Shipping Zone(s) and ensuring there are no rates tied to them. You might also want to provide more information about this on your site, such as noting in your Shipping Policy that you no longer ship to EU countries.
You can also customize the default error message that appears when customers can't check out due to shipping method failures to provide more information when it happens. You can do this by going to Themes, clicking the Actions button, selecting 'Edit Languages' from the drop-down, clicking on the 'Checkout & system' tab, then customizing the 'Checkout shipping errors shipping method' message.
Best regards,
Ron
