All things Shopify and commerce
My company does manufacturing and sells on Shopify. I want to set up incoming inventory so that when the specific out of stock product that is being manufacture will get restock on a certain date.
How can I achieve that?
Hello @rebol2n,
Greetings from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot! I am Gina, and I am here to help.
Here are the steps on how to set up incoming inventory in Shopify.
-> Access your Shopify admin panel and navigate to the Inventory section.
-> Select the Products tab from the menu.
-> Locate the specific product for which you want to set up incoming inventory.
-> Click on the Edit button associated with that product.
-> Scroll down to the Inventory section within the editing page.
-> Under Incoming inventory, provide the necessary details.
* Quantity - Enter the expected number of items in the upcoming shipment.
* Expected arrival date - Specify the date when you anticipate the shipment's arrival.
-> Save the changes by clicking the Save button.
Once the incoming inventory is set up, Shopify will automatically update the product's inventory quantity upon the shipment's arrival. This ensures that your customers are informed about the product's availability.
Some additional tips for setting up incoming inventory include ensuring accurate quantity and arrival date information, using Shopify's Inventory reports for monitoring, and setting up incoming inventory through a third-party fulfillment service to track the shipment process.
Refer to this guide on Managing inventory quantities.
Don't hesitate to ask if you need any further clarification.

Are you just wanting to go in and manually update the inventory in the Shopify admin? Or are you looking to have it updated automatically from another data source?
No other source. I just want to set an date for certain products to restock.
Like on Aug 15th, we will have 500 units of Product X coming in. I want shopify to automatically add 500 units of Product X in the inventory.
Sorry for the super delayed reply here. Got out of the habit of checking the discussion forums!
What I'm trying to figure out is where is this data coming from.
In order to automate this, we would need some kind of event to trigger the automation. Is there some system outside of Shopify where the 500 units will be posted to?
Are you getting an email notification? CSV file upload somewhere?
Hi Kalen,
Maybe you can answer my question. We have a shopify online store, I was wondering if there was a way where when we manually put in the incoming stock in Shopify, it shows on the online store.
So for example, you just placed an order (with your manufacturer) for a certain SKU. That SKU has 0 and it shows out of stock in the online store, the order that is placed gets added to the incoming shopify products, and now the online store is automatically updated for that specific product with the incoming date.
it will show something like: Out of stock, new shipment expected around 15/04/2024
would something like that be possible?
I need this function too.
That should happen if you create a purchase order in the shopify backend.
It does not automatically show in the online store, only on the back end
Aaaah I see what you mean. Unfortunately there isn't any API access to the purchase orders, so that woudn't be possible.
