How can I set up product variants like this?

Hey folks, 

I am looking to set up a product in this fashion. I assume i use varients but not sure how to get it to look like this. I provided two pics as I would like to use both set ups. If there is anyone that can help I would greatly appreciate it. I'm very new to all this and just found this forum. lol

Not a lot of context to go off of here but basically if your theme provides the option to configure that then you just need to configure it. Otherwise you might be looking for a custom implementation which could require html, css, liquid, javascript.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I am new to shopify, I am not sure how much more I can help regarding the context as this is not my forte. I was hoping to speak with someone from Shopify to determine if my theme can do this but have had no luck. Ny next step if the forum does not work was to see if I could have it customized. Honestly im just pulling at straws hoping to find a lead. Thanks again for the response and if you can help in any way I would take and advice. Thanks

The look and user experience of your store are defined by your theme.

It's possible that your theme already has support for swatches/pills -- in this case you need to switch a relevant settings.
For example, this is a guide for Dawn https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/theme-structure/theme-settings#variant-pills  
(there is a bunch of videos on YT on Dawn settings)

If your theme does not have this functionality, you have two options -- either select a different theme which does, or, customize your current theme to add this functionality. 

As mentioned, this will require significant change to your theme, so almost always it's easier to migrate to a different theme unless you've already heavily invested in your current one.
