All things Shopify and commerce
My store's focus is on local orders only, and I am trying to set up a delivery route that offers certain locations for a meeting spot for customers to collect their orders. Is there a way to do this as local delivery? I tried to create multiple locations to allow local pickup, however creating multiple pickup locations is great in theory, but it is problematic for sharing inventory. I do not want to deliver to customers homes. My hope is to establish a few different meeting locations and create a delivery schedule to those locations, but I cannot figure out how to go about this.
It's great that you're thinking about ways to streamline your local delivery process! I understand that you want to create a system where customers can choose from a few pre-selected locations to meet you and collect their orders. I think this is definitely possible, but you'll need to set it up in a particular way. Instead of using the local delivery option in Shopify, you'll need to use the "pickup" option. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Locations and add the locations where you'd like to meet customers.
That is how I started, but unless I'm missing the obvious, it seems that I would have to create inventory for the various pick up locations in order to not generate error messages or out of stock messages. In order to avoid confusion and/or accidentally over selling an item, I prefer to keep the inventory limited to my default location. Is there a work around that I'm completely missing?
