How can I treat a single product as multiple SKUs for fulfilment purposes?

I have a product that is a lamp which is made of two components - a base and a shade.

I want the customer to be able to:
1. Purchase a lamp base in the colour of their choice with a shade in the style and colour of their choice (with variable costs depending on shade selection)
2. Purchase a lamp base without a shade (for a lower price point)

My fulfilment centre stocks the lamp bases and lamp shades as two separate products so I need the order to comprise of the 2 SKUs when a lamp with shade is purchased.

I have experimented with bundling apps but none seem to do this job well. Crucially, I want to retain my product images for each variant so the customer can see what they are buying when they choose their options.

Any and all help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

You can manage this by default variant options in Shopify. Please read here in more detail:

Then I think you have to keep other products as addon products on the website. So if the customer selects that product then it'll be added to cart separately.

so your different product can be checkout at the same with if the customer opts for the addons product.

@aliceweegee Both the options are available. without adding there are need to add some custom code to manage such functionality.

If a visitor selects 'taper shade' in 'green', I'd like the primary product image to change to display this combination. Is that possible?

Regarding "multiple images per variant", you might also want to explore another feature of the Easify app: creating cross-product links among similar products using the exclusive Option URL feature. This functionality allows you to establish separate products, each with multiple images, and then seamlessly link these products together. On the storefront, it appears as if you're simply switching between variants, but in reality, you're navigating between different related products:
