Thank you for this I will certainly go through your guide! 🙂
Hi,
The guide is well written but I cannot get Stripe to show up for me as an option, even after deactivating Shopify Payments.
I want to use my existing Stripe account from either Ireland or the UK. is this possible, or must I use Shopify Payments?
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve., I beleive you must use Shopify payments in UK and Ireland as they are availaible. You cannot offer Stripe. If anyone knows better than this please correct me (I am a new Shopify user) Trust this helps...
Best Wishes,
Stephen
Thanks Stephen,
Much appreciated!
Yes, interested if anyone else can please add to this!

My understanding is that Shopify payments is how the payments your receive (sales) are processed.
In other words, Shopify acts as the payment gateway provider.
Shopify offers this service in certain countries but that only means that the shop in those countries can use the service.
For your customers (the purchaser) it makes no difference if they are or are not in a country covered by Shopify payments. They make their payment with a credit card as normal, from their end, and Shopify, from your end, processes the payment.
I use Shopify payments in my store and when I receive payments into my bank it always says CT Stripe Technology Europe Ltd. That to me suggests that Shopify is using Stripe any way so why would you need to change it.
I see what you're saying - that it should all work out fine.
I guess I am familiar with my own Stripe account but no difference in the end really. Had customers saved in my Stripe account which would have been handy but am aware that using Sh Payments they'll still provide what I need re what I had in my Stripe dashboard before.
And I know I can use the apps provided by Shopify too to flexibility.
Be great to get 100% clarification from Shopify but looks like there's just the 1 route right now.
Thanks people, appreciate it
