All things Shopify and commerce
Hello Community,
I've been using Shopify's analytics tools extensively and have found them to be incredibly valuable in understanding our store's performance. However, there's one specific metric I believe would be a great addition: Median Order Value.
While the Average Order Value (AOV) provides a general sense of the typical order size, it can sometimes be skewed by outliers, especially those rare high-value orders. For businesses like ours, where occasional large orders can significantly impact the AOV, the median order value would offer a more balanced and consistent insight into our regular transactions.
The median, as many of you might know, is the middle value in a list of numbers, which means it's less affected by extreme values on either end of the spectrum. By having a report that shows the median order value, we can get a clearer picture of our typical order size without the distortion caused by those occasional high or low orders.
I wanted to reach out and see if:
I believe many store owners would benefit from this additional insight, and it would be a valuable tool for making more informed business decisions.
Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and any potential solutions or steps forward.
Warm regards,
-Jon (steelmantools.com, 212performance.com)
Hey,
Your suggestion for adding the Median Order Value metric in Shopify's analytics tools makes a lot of sense, as it can provide a more stable and representative view of order values, especially for businesses with varying order sizes.
I too would like to know the median order value as a front page metric similar to average order value. I searched and searched as this is a pretty basic metric and I could not find it. Lets go Shopify, give us this option to display in analytics.
