How do I escalate an issue with Shopify?

Shopify have suspended my storefront for copyright for alleged use of a theme. I had no idea this had happened as I paid someone to design my online store. I have since purchased the theme but they have still suspended my online store. This is really impacting my business.

Has anyone had any luck in getting a ticket escalated?

It is so frustrating.

Hi Karmainindustries,

I completely understand that you're feeling frustrated right now, especially since you're unsure how to resolve the issue with your storefront being blocked. I also noted that you mentioned paying someone to design your online store.

Given this information, I recommend contacting your designer to find out how they added that theme to your store. After that, you have two options:

  1. Purchase a valid license for the reported theme.
  2. Completely delete all copies of the theme from your account.

If you choose to purchase the theme, you will be allowed to keep your customized version. Once you have taken one of these actions, please reply to the email from Shopify to inform them of the resolution. Until you respond to that email, your storefront may remain locked until the review is completed.

To summarize:

  1. Contact your designer to know how they added the theme to your store.
  2. Decide whether to delete all copies of the theme or buy the theme license.
  3. After you make your decision, communicate it to Shopify via the email you received with more information.

Hello, I am Adam B.

Yes, things like this is very frustrating and while Shopify support dosent rank tickets off of severity, they don’t rank them at all. They will unfortunately get to your ticket when they get to it.

I recommend:

Contacting live support to have a person actively helping with your issue instead of waiting on an email.

Ensure your website is no longer copyrighted, if it happened once it can happen again.

Take action and don’t waste anytime allowing your business to stay suspended.

I wish you the best of luck, for any inquiries you have let me know!
