All things Shopify and commerce
There are only 2 cookies left that I need to remove ( _shopify_y and _shopify_s) in order for my website to be GDPR compliant so that I may legally not have to display the cookie consent banner.
But I have not been able to figure it out. I've already tried multiple AI chats, customer support, search engines, and searching this forum. I've checked the theme code but can't find anything there either (Trade Theme).
Considering I want to sell privacy focused tech, I really don't want to have ANY sort of analytics on my website.
If I can't get an answer here, I guess I'll have to migrate the site to another service or such as this is something I cannot compromise on, due to the nature of my company.
Hi @P_S_G_
This is Mike from Consentik
You can try our app: Consentik Cookie Banner. It provides a feature to auto-block any tracking/analytics service without showing a cookie banner.
Please let me know if you have any question about this.
Hi @P_S_G_ ,
Simply removing a cookie does not ensure GDPR compliance. The key issue is that the cookie is created and tracking occurs before it is removed, which is not legally correct under GDPR. Tracking should not happen at all until the user has explicitly given consent.
The proper approach is to prevent the cookie from being set in the first place by notifying Shopify that the user has not given consent. This ensures that no tracking occurs until the user explicitly opts in.
Without the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app, this process is not properly managed, and compliance with regulations like GDPR may not be fully achieved. Our app ensures that cookies and tracking scripts are blocked until consent is given, providing real compliance with data regulations.
