All things Shopify and commerce
Hi guys, I'm quite a noob at shopify and would like to find out how I can remove the add to cart or buy it now button from the product pages. we sell customized items and would like the customer to go through the customization first (via Zakeke) before purchasing the item.

Hey, @aceproductsusa !
I'm Lizzy, one of the Gurus on the support team at Shopify.
You can remove the Buy it Now buttons by disabling the dynamic checkout options within your theme. To do this you'll want to open up the theme editor by going to Online Store>Themes>Customize. In here click on the drop down mean in the top bar to select Product Pages.
On the product pages you'll see the products pages section on the left hand side. Click on here and disable dynamic checkout within.
To remove the add to cart button you will need to make a small adjustment to your theme code. This page from our help center explains how to adjust the code to remove the button.
To get into the area of the admin where you can edit a theme's code you'll just want to go to Online Store>Themes>Actions(on the theme you'd like to change)>Edit Code. Before making any changes to the theme code I always like to suggest duplicating your theme. You can do this by going to Online Store>Actions>Duplicate. Just in case.
Please let me know if you have any questions about these steps!
I also looked into Zakeke and we do have an app in the app store that will integrate directly with your Shopify account. You can take a look at it here. Your customers will then see a customize button beside the add to cart button, where they'll be directed to customize the product.
Were you hoping to set up your store so that only the customize button appears? If so, the above steps will help, otherwise this app might be a good option!
Thank you,
Lizzy

Thanks Lizzy! 🙂 This was really very helpful. I was able to remove the add to cart button successfully.
Now what happened after that is that the style and alignment for the customize button changed.
How do I change it back to the same button styles that I had before?
Hey @aceproductsusa!
You're welcome. I'm glad that helped to remove the add to cart button!
I'm not sure how the app generates the customize button. It sounds like it may be pulling some styling information from the add to cart settings. What I would recommend is reaching out to the app developers to see if they can either explain how to set up the styling or adjust the styling for you to keep the button looking the same!
You can find the app's contact information on the listing I shared above, under "Support."
Let me know if you have any questions about this!

HI , I do not have the products on customize , is there another option to delete or hide buy now button
Hi Lizzy,
You had in your reply mentioned "This page from our help center explains how to adjust the code to remove the button. " to remove the Add To Cart Button. This is what I am looking to do as well.
It appears the link you mentioned now redirects to a different article. Do you have an updated link with instructions to remove the code, that will remove the Add To Cart Button?
Thank you!
Greg
Try this shopify hide add to cart button app force customers to contact with store owner for product price details. The price button can be replaced with on contact us button, call for price, etc. Product prices are not visible for everyone only needy customers can contact for their desired product price. Admin can replace cart buttons with multiple types such as text, link button, image and contact form.

Hi Greg,
Wondering if you ever heard back on this or figured out a way to remove the "Add to Cart" button. I noticed that the link was also old.
Thanks!
