All things Shopify and commerce
Hi there
we’ve just set up our newsletter through shopify email, you can sign up through the main page of our website at the footer, but would like to be able to share a link to it sign up to it on Instagram, Facebook etc.
I’ve searched through shopify and can’t fathom it.
Would anyone be able to help please?
Have linked your social media accounts to your store???
Yes.
but I’d like to do a Facebook post or Instagram story linking people to the signup which I can’t seem able to do.
Hello @Fetheray , You can add an CSS ID in your store footer and include that ID at the end of your store link. For example if your store is https://www.xyz.com then you can share the link like this: https://www.xyz.com/CSS ID
When someone click on this link it will automatically scroll to the footer where you have email newsletter.
This is just a suggestion if anyone have better Idea then please share your idea down below
Thanks!
hi @RohailAli
That sounds like a good idea. how do i add this CSS ID? what exactly i need to write, and where?
I guess it's just adding a line of code in the footer.liquied?
thanks
Hello @Shauletay ,
Shopify assign CSS ID by default to each section. You just need to copy that ID to place at the end of your store link: example: https://www.xyz.com/#CSSID don't forget to add hash tag before ID name.
Thanks
Hi, exactly where do I find the CSSID link please? I'd also like to share my newsletter signup..
edit:
never mind, I added an anchor instead which worked, just added <a id=“newsletter”> then added #newsletter to the end of my shop url 🙂
That's also an good Idea, But when you share a link you must have to put the ID at the end of the URL. When someone click on that link it will automatically scroll down to the newsletter.
Hi,
Can you tell me where i find the CSS ID as well, trying to do the same as Fetheray
thanks for this
where is this css id found?
hi! can you tell me which file and where you added this anchor? was it to footer.liquid?
Hi @Shauletay,
Just adding this for others — I went to customise my theme, selected the newsletter sign-up element and saw that it was called 'newsletter-wrapper' and so added #newsletter-wrapper to the URL like this https://www.oliverjwoods.com/#newsletter-wrapper
Hope that helps!
If you use mailchimp, they offer a URL link to the signup. It's under Audience > Signup Forms
Hi there, did you find a solution to this? I'm looking to do it too and haven't worked it out yet. Thank you!
Yes…!
Only recently actually.
I made a new page, using the contact template in our theme, and used the newsletter in the footer as the only thing on that page.
Then I was able to share a link to that page.
Newsletter signup page
It may not be THE way to do it. But it works for us and was much easier that trying to do anything with the CSS id.
thanks for your reply, I appreciate it - good work-around! 🙂
I feel like there MUST be a more straightforward way to do this but I will have a go at this for now. Thanks again! H
How exactly did you do this? I can not for the life of me figure it out. I'm on with Shopify chat now and they don't even know. They told me to move the sign up form to the top of the page. I'm seriously considering going back to Square. Everythign is SO difficult.
Hey there! Thank you for your feedback on this. If you wish to have a page dedicated to your newsletter sign up link, you can make one for this purpose. There is not a default page created for newsletter signups on any free Shopify theme.
If you need help creating a page in your store for this, let us know. I'm happy to assist.

Hey, did you try my way? After your website name: www.whateveryourname.com, put /#ContactFooter. So, www.whateveryourname.com/#ContactFooter
It seems our theme has a newsletter page which we link to on our social media, maybe yours does too?

Hey, I was trying to find the answer for this today and I figured something out. Someone let me know if this works for them as well. After your website name: www.whateveryourname.com, put /#ContactFooter. So, www.whateveryourname.com/#ContactFooter . When I subscribed to my own email, I took the link that popped up after it said thank you for subscribing and removed the text that showed I subscribed.
Brilliant! This worked for me!
Awesome! Glad it worked for you, too!
This worked for me too. thanks
