My shopify site is showing some customers are not a secure site. I went on godaddy and purchased a SSL certificate and am now trying to upload this to my shopify website but not sure how to do this. Any advice on how to do this would be very much appreciated

Thanks

Hi @Oneeightthree1

You do not need to purchase a separate SSL certificate from GoDaddy for your Shopify store. Shopify automatically provides free SSL certificates for all domains connected to your Shopify store.

Here are the key steps to ensure your Shopify store has a valid SSL certificate:

1. Make sure your domain is properly connected to Shopify by configuring your DNS settings. Your domain's A record should point to Shopify's IP address (23.227.38.65) and the CNAME record should point to shops.myshopify.com.

2. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Domains. If the SSL certificate is pending, wait up to 48 hours for it to be issued by Shopify. During this time, you may see an "SSL Unavailable" error.

3. Once the certificate is issued, verify the domain status shows as "Connected" on the Domains page in Shopify. You should also see a padlock icon next to your store's URL indicating it is secure.

4. Ensure any content you are embedding in your store from external sources (images, videos, etc.) is also loaded over HTTPS to avoid mixed content warnings.

Since Shopify provides its own free SSL certificates, there is no need to install the one you purchased from GoDaddy. Having multiple SSL certificates can cause issues. I would recommend contacting GoDaddy support for instructions on canceling or uninstalling the certificate you purchased to avoid double charges.

In summary, allow some time for Shopify to automatically provision the free SSL certificate for your domain. As long as your DNS settings are correct, your Shopify store will soon show as secure without needing to install a third-party certificate.

Thank you, I have had the store live since December 2023 but my customers are saying that on occasion if they type in my store using 'www.' Then it saids the store is not secure. What could the issue be?
