How do I use existing products as variants of each other?

I am VERY new to shopify so I don't know a lot of the terms that people use.

I have a number of products in the store. Each has its own description, photo, etc. I would like to make them variants of each other so when I click on a variant, it shows the description, photo, possible price change, etc for the selected item.

I have no idea how to do this. I'd love some help.

What you are looking for are Linked product variations/ Combined listings. If you are on a Plus plan, Shopify has a specific app for it: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/combined-listings 

Otherwise, depending on the theme you are using, it could be a default feature, which would most likely require some configuration to be set. I'd recommend contacting theme support to check if your theme includes this.
