All things Shopify and commerce
We have had a physical store since 1950. We set up a Shopify Store several months ago but (admittedly) the store is not well presented (linked) on the domain website and as a result, online sales are not a large percentage of the business. We are preparing to use a Spotify Expert to redo the domain pages and the store. We're taking a quick look at Shopify Shipping and I see where it says:
USPS - Discounts up to 67% off
UPS® - Discounts up to 82% off
DHL Express - Discounts up to 72% off
We have FedEx and UPS accounts and trying to understand how our existing relationships with the shippers relates to the discount numbers referenced above?
Can someone help me understand Shopify Shipping (besides how it creates picking lists, invoices and shipping labels).
Thanks in advance.

Hello @SlippySlope ,
Let me simplify this for you:
Shopify Shipping: Shopify offers discounts on shipping. These discounts are available directly through Shopify's carrier account; it is not possible to use a direct account with the carrier or your existing carrier account in this case. You can create shipping labels and manage your orders directly from Shopify.
Using Your Own Accounts: If you choose to use your own FedEx or UPS accounts, you will maintain a direct relationship with these carriers. This can be beneficial in the event of delivery issues or if you require special handling. You will need apps (like the PH Multi Carrier Shipping Label app) to integrate these features into Shopify and seamlessly process your shipments.
What to Consider: Evaluate whether the discounts through Shopify save you more money than using your own accounts. Also, consider which option simplifies the shipping process for you.
Decision-Making Tips: Compare costs, consider the ease of use for each option, and think about the level of control you want over shipping. This will help you determine the best method for shipping your products.
Hi @SlippySlope So if you will be using the shopify's default option of shipping, then this discount will be applied, as shopify has already collaborated with theme shipping provider companies.
As you have mentioned that you are already using these provider then you can talk to them directly if they will provide you discounts more than this or not. If they will provide you more discount then you will need to add their app in your store, and there you will see if the discount will be applicable or not.
Regarding invoices and shipping labels: If you are shopify's default option then under the order you will find the details for invoice and shipping label,
and if you are using 3rd party app then these both option will be in the app that you are using ( for example: Fedex or DHL).
Hopefully it cleared your doubt, if you have any other doubt then feel free to ask the same.
If you will unable to implement the same then I'm happy to do this for you, let me know. I can implement the changes and can also help you in setting up your store, so that this will work well for you.
Hopefully it will help you. If yes then Please don't forget hit Like and Mark it as solution!
Best Regards
Sahil

Thank you. Will Shopify Shipping give the most economical option between USPS, UPS FedEx (since it knows the discount rate for each carrier)?
Yes, I suppose so. Please go ahead and create one shipping label, which will show you the options along with their rates. Until you handle a few shipments using either your own account or a Shopify shipping account, you won't become familiar with the process.
