All things Shopify and commerce
Hi, could someone please let me know how long it takes for payouts? They have been sat on pending for over 2 weeks now. As far as I’m aware I have everything set up correctly so I’m not sure why I’ve not had a payout yet?
Thank you
Hey, @VickiJane!
I understand you have a concern regarding your payouts. I'd love to help you out!
Payouts are subject to pay periods, but depending on your region, it normally doesn't take more than 2-5 business days from when the charge is processed for your payouts to be paid. Since your payouts have been pending for weeks, I suggest checking your email or your admin homepage as there's a possibility we need you to complete a request relating to your Shopify Payments account.
If you don't find any information in your inbox or admin regarding your Shopify Payments account, we'll need to access your account information so we can take a closer look at your payouts and find out why they're pending. In order for us to do this, you need to create a support ticket. You may follow the steps below to create a support ticket.
Let me know if you have trouble reaching our support team and I'll assist you further.

Hi Summer, thank you for replying! I will double check my emails now but I don’t think I have any from Shopify. I’ll check - I tried to find the AI assistant but can’t seem to locate it.
It took a week or better before my payout started then I had to transfer it into Shopify Bank because my own chkg acct supposedly wasn't verified with Discover Bank??? It instantly verifies. I had to then find the funds in the Shopify Bank Acct. Should be a lot simpler. Once set up it, the next time it was quick (fairly small amount) and the payout to DB happened in 2 days... Not bad. Now I have had a Shop purchase and the payout doesn't show up on Payouts or anywhere. It is a twilight zone moment. Really Shopify? I am finding that Shopify uses the word "process" for multiple applications to its advantage. "Once it processes... then you will see it..." Define how many variations of process there are! It takes 2 seconds to take money from a merchant or my customers... the transaction goes through Shopify and yes it's a pending transaction, I get it. Debit cards are pretty doggone quick. Shopify merchants have to pay their bills, yet Shopify takes its own sweet time and I guess there is a CYA somewhere in the legal ease, but this is a customer service matter... If Shopify vets a Merchant and approves an acct, it demands a certain level of mutual respect and professionalism. Square, for example, allows the merchant to get funds in 10 minutes through their bank/app. If we cant even see a payout date when the item purchased has already shipped, I have a problem with that. Especially when the next pay out date has a 0 and there is no record of it other than the customer invoice.
Any additional lag in payment should be disclosed up front. Whether the amount with Shop is $5 or $500 it should be communicated clearly and an account post or record. My experience-- I received an order yday, fulfilled it, gave tracking, it was archived, (which I dont like either) and clearly stated processed. And again upon another click-- it displays processed 100%. Today, when I chatted with a rep about this, I asked why isn't it showing up... after about 30 minutes, I was told it had to process... eventuall I was told it would would be Friday- three more days before it would hit my bank. Friday a minute before midnight? Three full days later? Shopify is holding our money and should be better stewards. Unacceptable.
It appears that I need to quit using Shop and/or Shopify, because after all these years in business this is not the first time this has happened or been brought up, I'm sure. It is a choice--a bad choice in my opinion.
The time it takes to receive a payout can vary depending on the specific situation and the method used for the payout. Here's a simple breakdown:
Online Transactions:
Payment Processing:
Check Payments:
Bank Transfers:
Cash Payouts:
Consider Weekends and Holidays:
Check Communication:
This seems to be a wide spread complaint, I'm new on Shopify too and having payout issues. What happens if you get a lot of orders and you have to fullfill
with your own money? you might end up going negative in your bank account while waiting on Shopify's slow payout. An established account might be ok but what about the new people who barely know what's going on they could end up in a lot of trouble financially ....do better Shopify.
