How to add a customizable item to your shop?

Hi All! I'm trying to add a new item to my shop.  A customizable "big three" astrology bracelet.  However, when I tried to do this last night, the website basically shut down on me and told me I had too many variants.  There over 900 different combinations before I could even finish putting in all the options. Ex: three genres (sun, moon rising) and twelve sub-genres under each (aries, taurus, gemini etc.)

Is posible for me to list this item on my site another way? I'm thinking like a text box where the customer types in their specific order? A "tell the seller what you want" type thing? Think ordering pizza online and the little box at the end where you tell them you only want pepperoni on half? Haha.

thanks for these suggestions! question about the customization firm though. is there only an option on certain web designs? i believe i am using dawn and i didn’t not see an option for this. how would i go about using this for my site?
