How to categorize a service product on Shopify?

What do you put in the Product Category for a service that you will do for someone on shopify?  For example, a customer can add a request fruit in their gift basket (an actual Shopify item on my website) at a certain cost...say they choose to add $15 in fruit to a gift basket.  That $15 the person wants to pay includes any taxes I'm paying when I buy the fruit.  So I'm going to charge $15 but it won't be taxed.  I cannot find a product category (service?) for this item.

I am wondering this as well. I am getting prompted to charge a sales tax, but that is not applicable for the service I am selling.

Hey, @MountainManVail

Just to confirm, you are looking to make a product add-on tax exempt? We have a guide here that outlines how to set up tax overrides and exemptions for your products.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

No Dirk, thats not it.

When setting up an item/product in your store, there is a section on the
screen called "product organization". Under that is a category, a product
type and the vendor. the product category is what i am referring to and
helps to determine the tax class an item falls .

Category metafields are additional attributes and default entries that are
unlocked when you assign a product category. For example, if you add the
product category Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops, then you
can add category metafields for clothing size, neckline, sleeve length type
, length type, age group, material, and color. Default entries are
available for each category metafield.

You can edit the default entries to match your branding better and the
entry updates everywhere you connected it. For example, color entry
examples include red, black, and white. If you want to update black to
graphite, then you can update the entry and it automatically updates where
that entry is connected.

You can also convert category metafields into variants for your products.
When you use color entries as variant options, you can display variant
options as swatches for color options

Product type - A way to create a custom category for a product. The product
type lets you define product categories other than the ones that are
available in Shopify's standard product categories. A product can have only
one custom product type. To learn more, refer to Product Types

Hey, @MountainManVail

Appreciate the context there. In this case I think one of the categories such as 'Food Service', or 'Food Service Baskets' would be applicable in this case. If you type 'service' in the field you will see those two category options show up.
