How to choose an inventory for each market?

How to choose an inventory for each market?

Hi everyone,

I sell my products in different countries, therefore I have warehouses in different places. The level of inventory depends from one warehouse to another and I do not want to intercalate Inventory Warehouse A with Inventory Warehouse B.

If someone from Country B would like to place an order, the inventory for Warehouse B will be affected. Of course, once the inventory of warehouse B is ended, the user from Country B will see that the product is out of stock.

Is this possible? Thanks!

Yes, it's possible to manage inventory for different warehouses in different countries on Shopify. Shopify's multi-location inventory feature allows you to track inventory across multiple warehouses (locations). You can assign specific inventory to each location and Shopify will automatically deduct from the relevant warehouse's inventory based on where the order is placed. When a warehouse runs out of stock, the product will show as out of stock for customers in that region. You'll need to ensure that your store's settings and shipping zones are correctly configured to reflect this setup. This feature is particularly useful for businesses like yours with international warehouses and region-specific inventory management.

Hi @PurplePartner , in your shopify store you can use locations feature from settings :

You can add several locations to track inventory and track orders from various countries.
Once you set up your locations you can start assigning inventory to each location :

We have a paris location here click on "View inventory" option and from there you can start Assigning inventory to this specific location.
Hope this will help you.

Hi @Abdosamer,

I am aware of the Locations feature. I just wonder how will Shopify know when to deduct an item from Inventory A and when from Inventory B.

As an example, I have one inventory in Germany and another one in France. When someone from France buys an item, France's Inventory should be used. How does Shopify know from which inventory to deduct the quantity purchased? Will Shopify automatically detect the country of the customer and use that inventory? If the anawer is yes, then how it works when someone places an order from a third country where is no warehouse (Switzerland, for my example).

@PurplePartner , Shopify knows which inventory to deduct based on your location settings and the customer location, when the customer enter their shipping address at checkout , shopify identifies their country , a customer from France will automatically have their purchase deducted from the French inventory.

Thanks, @Abdosamer !

Do you know by any chance if I can add multiple SKUs for each variant?

Hi Abdosamer,
Thank you for your answer. Could you expand on the feature that show the product out of stock for users within a particular market?
We're facing some negative SKUs in one location because Shopify will keep the product available if there is inventory in all locations combined.
Thank you!

@PurplePartner , If someone places order from a third country , automatically shopify will ship from the nearest location to this country, or from your setting you can prioritize your locations or even restrict orders from certain countries.
