How to contact customer service when chat box is broken?

Hi,

I am trying to get in contact with customer service as number of things on the platform are completely broken. I have tried to contact customer support through the chat box, but when I ask for customer support it gives me a button to join the queue to speak to an agent, when I click this button it just gets copied in the chat, leaving me in an endless loop, never able to speak to the customer support agents, any other way to chat to them?

Abandoned carts is also completely not working and workflow never updates after updating, applying and saving, it always reverts back to what it was before the edit, is it time to give up on shopify?

Hi @Maxc

I've carefully reviewed your situation, and I understand how frustrating it is when you're facing multiple issues on the platform and can't even reach customer support due to a broken chat box. It definitely sounds like you're having a rough time with Shopify right now, and I can see why you're considering giving up. Let's explore some other ways to contact support and address the abandoned cart issue.

Alternative Ways to Contact Shopify Support

Since the chat box is giving you the runaround, here are a few other avenues you can try:

  • Email Support: Even though chat is often the fastest way, Shopify does offer email support. Look for a "Contact Us" or "Help" link on their website (usually in the footer) and see if there's an email option. I've used this method before, and while it might not be instantaneous, they do eventually respond. I think it's worth a shot when other methods fail.

  • Phone Support: Sometimes, a good old-fashioned phone call is the best way to go, especially when dealing with technical glitches. Check Shopify's website for their support phone number. I personally prefer this option when I need to explain complex issues.

  • Social Media: It might sound unconventional, but sometimes reaching out through Shopify's social media channels (like Twitter or Facebook) can get their attention. I've seen this work for others, and it might be worth a try.

  • Shopify Community Forums: While not direct support, the Shopify Community forums can be a valuable resource. You can describe your issues there, and other users or even Shopify staff might offer solutions. I've found helpful tips there myself on occasion.

Dealing with the Abandoned Cart Issue

I also understand your frustration with the abandoned cart workflow not saving your updates. This is a serious issue, and here are some things you can do:

  • Double-Check for Errors: Make absolutely sure you're saving your changes correctly. Sometimes, there might be a small, easily missed step. I've been there myself, clicked the wrong button and lost all my work.

  • Clear Cache and Cookies: It sounds basic, but sometimes browser cache or cookies can interfere with how the Shopify admin works. Clearing them can sometimes resolve these glitches.

  • Try a Different Browser: Occasionally, compatibility issues with certain browsers can cause problems. Try using a different browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) to see if that makes a difference.

  • Document Everything: Take screenshots or even a video recording of the issue happening. This will be incredibly helpful when you contact support, as it provides concrete evidence of the problem.

  • Contact Support (Again): This issue, coupled with the broken chat, definitely warrants contacting support. Be clear and concise in your description of both problems. Mention the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot.

I genuinely hope these suggestions help you get your Shopify store back on track. It's understandable to feel discouraged when things break, but I wouldn't give up just yet. Sometimes, these things happen, and with a bit of persistence, you can get them resolved.

If you need any other assistance, I am willing to help.

Best regards,

Daisy.
