How to Create a Discount Code with 10% Off and Auto-Add a Free Gift to Cart in Shopify

Hello Shopify Community,

I’m looking for advice on creating a discount code that will apply a 10% discount to a customer’s cart while also automatically adding a free gift to the cart when the code is used. Here’s the setup I’m hoping to achieve:

• Discount: When a customer enters a specific discount code, they receive 10% off their order.
• Free Gift: Along with the 10% discount, a specific item is automatically added to their cart as a free gift when the code is applied.

I’d love to know if this is achievable with Shopify’s built-in features, or if any apps or custom code might be required. Any insights, tips, or recommendations for achieving this setup would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @anudeep__k Welcome to the community!

Yes this is achievable with all the three methods you have mentioned, i.e. shopify's build in feature, custom code and 3rd party app as well.

1. Shopify In Build Feature: You can simply 1st create a 10% discount and then create buy X get Y and combine both of them i.e. there is a option in shopify to combine discounts so you need to just check that.
2. Custom Code: You can do it with custom code as well, but it will take time you need to use shopify functions functionality to achieve this so that the discount will work well, You can find the code for this online as well.
3. 3rd Party App: You can use third party app as well, there are bunch of app that have this functionality, with better graphics so you can find the same on the app store.

Thank you for your response.

My requirement is different. User will only get a discount along with a free gift when they used the coupon code. Otherwise, he will not get anything. I need only one discount code which will also give a free product. I dont need two coupons for each.

@anudeep__k  you can combine 2 different discounts with each other  (like BOGO and a product discount)  and apply both of them at the same time with Slice 'n save  , it will full fill your requirement.
