How to customize register flow

1. I need to request user to confirm the email address - so we need to show this info message after creation of the account AND send the “confirm your email” letter

2. after the email is confirmed we need to redirect user to the dashboard 

3. after the email is confirmed we need to send a standard Welcome message

Is there a way to wait for the user to confirm via email before allowing login? Currently, when an account is created, it logs in automatically
