All things Shopify and commerce
I want to delete categories. I have deleted all items that were assigned to it, but it still appears. Can you help?
Hey, @shauna7084!
Ash here from the Shopify team. Thank you for posting your question in the Shopify Community!
I understand you're trying to delete a category from your shop, and I'm happy to help out with this. Could you please reply back here and clarify what you're referring to by categories? If you're referring to deleting collections, those can be deleted by going to the Products > Collections section of the admin, clicking on the name of the collection you want to delete, and clicking Delete Collection. A confirmation box will appear requiring you to click Delete Collection a second time to confirm the deletion.
Let me know if this helps, or if I've perhaps missed the mark. If you're referring to something other than collections, please follow up here to let me know.

Sorry I wasn't more clear.
By category, I mean tags. I assigned tags to all of my products and they are able to be sorted by those tags. However, I quit using some of them (due to inconsistencies) but they still show in the drop down. How can I get rid of the ones I'm no longer using?
No worries, @shauna7084!
Thank you for your reply to clear that up. In order to remove a product tag from your list of tags entirely, you'll need to make sure there are no products with that tag applied in the Products section of the admin. Here are some steps to find which products still contain the tag, and how to remove it completely from your store:
Let me know how these steps work out for you by replying here!

Hey Ash,
I have a question specifically about how to add and delete product categories. I can not find it anywhere in the dashboard. See the attached picture for reference to what I am asking about.
Yes - myself included ... this would be very helpful as since the latest update is taking president over the product type (of which my store is organised by).
Did anyone get an answer to this question?
I am assuming it can be done by using API calls. I am investigating. It would be nice to have items like this better described within the UI to help. We end of spinning our wheels trying to backward engineer how Shopify works and documentation and the UI can better organized.
Thank you in advance for any help.
