How to delete an order's Additional details?

Hello!

As we're using different apps, there are a lot of additional details being added to the order.

A quick background, we're using Linnworks for our order fulfillment system. The 'Notes' section on the order is where the customer's notes are being added. However, anything that gets added to the 'Additional Details' is getting pulled to Linnworks the same way as the customer's notes (which we print out).

Does someone know how I could remove the additional details automatically? I can't figure out how to do it on the Flow app—if it even is possible. I've already reached out to app supports to see if they can just not put any additional details on orders that used their app. I have also asked Shopify Support and our theme developer, as well as Linnworks Support, but none have solutions 😞

This is an accepted solution.

Just tested this out and it worked. It's setting customAttributes to an empty array.

We're not on Shopify Plus but I'll take a look at the other options. Thanks Shiyanbola! I'll have to try the Feedback one, who knows they might do it! 🙂

🐲If going this route attributes should first be dumped to a metafield for posterity and in case of future changes that make these additional details important but everyone has forgotten what makes the just vanish.

Hi again Kalen!

The flow with the solution you provided has been working well - thanks again for that! But for some odd reason, it's not working on orders with this additional detail (Klarna)

I tried duplicating the workflow and add a value (photo below) but it didn't work. Tried putting Klarna or Klarna Order ID or just anything that has the common denominator for all Klarna orders but never saw the workflow worked! 😅

Do you have any solutions please?

🐲💣⚠️ Before nuking data, document and make 100% sure there are no processes, or regulations, etc that expect that data to exist or always be present.

Make sure you have exhausted any customizability of an ERPs platform.

https://docs.linnworks.com/articles/#!documentation/getting-started-templates-printing

Or try to have middleware to edit out the uneeded data from pdf/xps documents, etc after it leaves the EPR but before it is printed/viewed.

Oh they have solutions but not the motivation to invest in fixing such integrations.

This issue is with ERP's treating this data like a firehose pushed into one window with no business control while you are specifically paying them for better control of a business.

You should NOT have to ever nuke a businesses source of truth for poor integrations.

Push the ERP with complaints or feature requests; or try to get past the tier-0 support to get input from knowledgeable internal teams.

Good Luck.
