Hi, I was testing out Shopify for the free trail but I would like to permanently delete my store and the date within it?

I can't find any option to delete store because it keeps asking me to choose a plan at every corner, I also do not want to choose a plan and then delete the store and have to pay a cancellation fee.

Please assist, i just want to permanently delete everything on the store i created and the date within in.

Kind regards,

Sabrina

Hey,

Tried that but the stores still appear on the inactive tab while logging in. I have multiple shopify stores so the active ones show up upon logging in, as well as these inactive ones too in another tab. How do we get rid of it completely? so they dont show at all.

Thanks

Hi there, @Anonyms. Thanks for reaching out with this question.

It sounds like you have not yet chosen a paid plan - this means that at the end of your free trial period, your store will be inactive. This is essentially the same thing as being deleted. You can either continue as you are, and not choose a plan at all and therefore your store will go inactive, or you can go ahead and choose a paid plan and from there go to settings > plan and select "deactivate" from there. Either way, the store will no longer be active and you will no longer be billed.

Can I ask, what has made you decide to close your store rather than continue on? Is there anything you'd like to improve or change that I could maybe help with?

Hello Ivy,

I am in the same situation as previous poster. I have been charged twice already even though I haven't chosen any plan and I don't intend to for now. It was a school project of my son where he was presenting some business development ideas. He made several stores, all are inactive and I cannot find anywhere an option to cancel subscription. I need your assistance in this matter.

To whomever it may concern,

It is quite clear to me that the level of education the Shopify "staff" receives is below zero. An inactive store is far from the same thing as being deleted. I also have a hard time getting my data deleted, particularly given the fact that your customer support does not exist. If you choose to operate in Europe, you will have to be aware of the laws and regulations that apply in that area. For example, as a company, you are obliged to have contact details listed on your website. Moreover, ALL of your customers have the right to be forgotten. Hereby, I invoke my right to be forgotten:

To whomever it may concern,

With the sending of this letter, I request my personal data to be deleted. I hereby invoke Articles 12 and 17 of the General Data Protection Regulation. The data that I wish to have deleted are as follows: my account and all related data. The reason for this request is as follows: I have previously consented to the use of my personal data, but I hereby withdraw my consent.

I kindly request a written reaction, in which is stated whether my request has been fulfilled. If my request for the deletion of my personal data cannot be fulfilled, please inform me of the reason.

Kind regards.

Unbelievable answer. As LightningJr wrote in this thread this is not acceptible in EU according to the GDRP law that you are obviously completely ignoring.
Deactivated stores are not the same as deleted account and you are forced by law to offer that option.
I hope someone with more time and money than me will bring up your case to the CJEU which will surely fine you or force you to close business in the EU.

I won't miss you.

Hi @Immer

I just wanted to share that you can submit a data removal request through our Privacy pages here: Shopify Privacy Controls. This process will permanently remove all related data to the provided account information from the platform. This process is not reversible.

When deactivating your online store, this doesn't delete the store from the platform as we provide you a minimum of 2 years to reactivate the account. Not all merchants have their stores open all year round, so deactivating it doesn't delete it. I hope that link assists you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

This very account that I'm asking this through was, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, created with my email account from somewhere in Parker, Colorado. I DON'T EVEN LIVE IN AMERICA, I LIVE IN SOUTH AFREICA!!! Please, is there anyway at all that I can delete this entire account at all? I received an email stating something about a "free trial", I don't have any money to pay off anything I didn't open! I'm seriously freaking out here, please help!
