How to display Birth date field on checkout page

Hi! 

We’re looking to collect customers' birth dates to send them personalized email campaigns using Klaviyo. While I’ve added a custom field for the birthdate under the customer account settings, it’s not appearing on either the checkout page or the "My Account" page.

I would appreciate your assistance with the following questions:

  1. Is it possible to display the birthdate field on both the checkout page and the "My Account" page? This would ensure we capture the information even if customers don’t access their account to edit their details.

  2. We are currently using the Kingdom theme. Do we need to customize the theme code, or can this be configured through theme settings?

  3. Once we collect the birthdate data, will we need to export and manually import it into Klaviyo, or is there a way to automate this process?

Your guidance on the best approach or any suggestions you have would be highly appreciated.

Hello,
What you're trying to accomplish (save a metafield value on the storefront) without an app. This is actually a really cool use case for Customer Fields, and with the addition of Customer Account Extensions, you can now add a birthdate field to a customer's profile portal (the page that get accesses when they log in to check their orders). Also, unfortunately, adding a custom field directly at checkout remains only possible on Shopify Plus. With Customer Fields' Klaviyo integration, it is possible to have the birth dates update automatically 😊

Hi Benjamen, 

Thanks for the solution, i've tried to add in the birth date from the metafield and Customer accounts access and set

Definition is available through the Customer Account API -> read and write. The DOB's field still not appearing in the customer profile page. 

Any steps that I could have miss out?
