Hi guys, I hope you are all doing great.

I plan to start my dropshipping business very soon. I have been watching videos on YouTube about how to start and everything.

I have come to an understanding that some tools can help me get started.

For example
Minea, Sell The Trend and Dropship IO.

What do you guys recommend? Should I be looking into these platforms to do product research? AND Are they beneficial? and time saving?

Hello Gabby @gabby_rolim  before you get into that, drop shipping success is usually based mainly on some basic stuff being arranged and properly planned for. Firstly, have you decided on your product after thorough research? Secondly, have you done research on the target audience and how populated they are on average as Shopify customers and how to best market your products to them? I feel like with stuff like this in place, the need for platforms is quite reduced and you can then begin to use those tools on your own after a while but not necessarily at the start.

Hi @gabby_rolim

Getting into dropshipping can be a bit of a maze, and I know picking the right tools feels like a real headache. Those platforms you mentioned - Minea, Sell The Trend, and Dropship IO - they're actually pretty awesome.

  • Minea is great for quickly finding trending products.
  •  Sell The Trend is more advanced, offering deeper insights and marketing strategies.
  • Dropship IO helps with finding reliable suppliers and evaluating product margins.

In my experience, Sell The Trend stands out more than the other 2 tools. This tool's got an incredibly user-friendly interface, packed with detailed data that helps you quickly catch those hot product trends. Their Facebook ad insights are seriously impressive.

However, on't get stuck on just one platform. Mix it up and cross-check products across different tools. Each platform's got its own secret sauce, and blending them gives you the ultimate market view.

Hopefully it will help you.

Hi, sure that's a really cool idea to do experiments on different platforms and then finalise one. Thanks for sharing this

Hey there! How exciting that you are getting into dropshipping!

Tools like Minea, Sell The Trend, and Dropship IO for product research

Since you’re asking how these tools fit in, let me break it down for you according to what we generally can piece together about these kinds of platforms when your journey starts on the dropshipping path.

Minea: This is great for spying on trends and winning products if you’re interested in social media ads. It scrapes data from services like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram to tell you what’s hot. They love it for the speed at which you can find out whether something is going viral, and for saving you hours of scrolling through feeds yourself. This can be a good choice if you want to market through ads.

Sell The Trend: This one’s a little bit more all-in-one. Not only does it assist with product ideas — it pulls data from places like AliExpress and Shopify stores, it gives you product suggestions that are currently trending, it even has features to target audiences. It’s super user-friendly, so if you’re new to this, it may minimize the overwhelm and reduce time spent on both research and planning.

Dropship IO: This is the more affordable alternative, and it’s geared toward product analytics like sales tracking and competitor insights. It’s not as flashy as the rest but certainly gets the job done, saving you time searching through data to find out where to build profitable niches.

Are they good and a time saver?
Absolutely, they can be. When it comes to product research, it’s a grind—if you don’t have the tools to automate these processes, then you’re going to spend hours browsing AliExpress, Amazon, or social media, playing a guessing game of what you think might sell. These services tap into algorithms and data to guide you to products that have potential, often revealing important metrics such as demand, competition, or profit margins. That can shave days off your prep, alone. And they save you the pain of trial-and-error when picking duds, which is a big win when you’re starting.

What should you do?
It depends on your vibe. But if you’re focused on social media marketing, Minea is a place you might want to visit. If you prefer a larger guiding you through with a step-by-step process, Sell The Trend might be clutch. If you want to keep costs on the low while dipping your toes in the water, Dropship IO’s a good call. Most have free trials or basic plans, so I’d suggest picking one that works for your budget and vibe, trying it out, and seeing if it resonates with you. You don’t have to have all three—pick one and expand if it’s working.

One tip borrowed from the dropshipping industry: tools are great, but they’re not a magic solution. Combine with your own hustle — search X posts or forums for live info on what’s hot, and follow your target demographic’s mood.

You can handle it — best of luck with the launch!
