Hi Community,

Hope you are well. I was checking my shopify speed score and noticed the FCP was 2.4s and I wanted to know if anyone can help me improve this score. Attached is a screenshot I took. Hope you can help figure this out. Thank you

1. Optimize HTML and CSS:

Minimize HTML size and remove unnecessary elements.
Preload critical CSS and load non-essential CSS asynchronously.
2. Optimize Javascript:

Defer or asynchronously load JavaScript to avoid blocking the rendering.
Use code splitting and minimize JavaScript files.
3. Improve Server and Network Performance:

Use a CDN to serve static resources faster.
Compress files to reduce transfer sizes.
4. Font Optimization:

Use font-display: swap; to show text with fallback fonts while custom fonts load.
Load only necessary font weights and character sets.
5. Image Optimization:

Implement lazy loading for images to load them only when visible.
Use modern image formats (WebP, AVIF) and compress images for smaller sizes.

Hi @richgirl87

Here’s my advice for your website:

Your current site speed is exceptional, far surpassing the average and putting you in an advantageous position. At this stage, instead of being overly fixated on achieving perfect speed scores, it’s essential to shift your focus to other crucial aspects of SEO that can enhance your site’s overall performance and user experience.

For example, optimizing your content for search intent, refining your metadata, improving on-page SEO, and ensuring engaging, valuable content are key areas to address. These will make your website not only fast but also effective at attracting and converting visitors.

If improving your First Contentful Paint (FCP) score remains a priority, I recommend using our SEO Suite app, which offers a Page Loading feature specifically designed to enhance FCP. Beyond this, the app also provides an array of tools to boost both SEO and overall site speed sustainably.

Balancing site speed with strategic SEO improvements is the key to building a successful, high-performing website.

I hope this helps

Best,

Daisy
