How to remove a co-owner of a Shopify Partners account?

Hi,
I'm trying to transfer ownership of a Partners account.

I've created a new Partners account on https://partners.shopify.com/.

Note: I have access to both owner accounts.

 

I then went to the original Partners account and invited my new user as an owner.

The new user is listed as an owner under the Partners Team page:

Then, on the new account who is now an owner, if I click on their user in the Owners list:

And if I click on "Remove access" I get this error:

"You can't remove the membership of the primary account owner without assigning another primary account owner"

  1. Created a New Partners Account: You've wisely created a new Partners account for the new owner.
  2. Invited New User as Owner: You've successfully invited your new user as an owner on the original Partners account.
  3. New User Listed as Owner: The new user is now listed as an owner under the Partners Team page, which is a good sign.

However, there's one more step to complete the transfer:

  • Transfer Store Ownership (if applicable): If the original Partners account has any development stores associated with it, you'll need to transfer ownership of those stores individually to the new owner. This process is separate from transferring account ownership.

Here's how to transfer store ownership within your Partner Dashboard:

  1. Log in to your original Partners Dashboard.
  2. Click on Stores.
  3. Find the development store you want to transfer and click on Transfer ownership.
  4. Select the new owner from the list of eligible users (which should include the new user you added).
  5. Click Transfer store.

I'm facing the same issue, and when going to the stores to transfer ownership, it turns out that the stores are non-transferable.

 

So I tried to archive them, but I still get the same error as @kwpx-digital:

Unable to remove [USER NAME]'s access

  • You can't remove the membership of the primary account owner without assigning another primary account owner

Do you have any other things I could look at?

Just approach to Shopify Partner team they can only help you in this regard. I had similar problem but opened a ticket and solved the problem
