How to require the purchase of X when purchasing Z?

Good morning, I am curious if there is a way to require the purchase of one item in order to purchase another item? Basically, what I am looking to do is allow customers to customize their own product, in order to do this I have 4 to 5 products that customer will need to add to their cart and choose a variation of nearly every one of those products. Is there a way to prevent them from checking out without each of the items being purchased?
