How to set a product end date on Shopify?

Shopify does everything for you when setting up your product to go live. However, what about the need to end-date products?  I hate the fact shopify has made thing do dependant on apps, that's fine for my personal shop but this for a non-profit organization I volunteer for.

Thanks

Hi there, @jasonck74. Thanks for following up with me with all of that additional information!

I did some digging to see what sort of in-house automation I could find for you in terms of automatically hiding products. We do have an in-house tool called 'Shopify Flow'  that allows users to build automated workflows, one of which will hide products after a certain amount of time by using product ID info. This tool was recently expanded in availability to both Shopify Plus and Shopify Advanced users, so if you're on either of those plans, this tool would do the trick!

If your shop, or the NGO that you work with is on a different plan, you will need to look into third party applications to automate this behaviour. I recognize that you weren't too keen on viewing these as options, but I wanted to share three automation apps that would do the trick for you:

Without using an application, you will have to continue to adjust the product availability manually. With your webmaster being located on the East Coast, it may be a good idea to have someone on the West Coast handle the hiding of products of particular dates. Or, you can end the sales of these products based around the schedule of the webmaster.

Ultimately, I recognize how helpful it would be for you here if there was just a way to set these automatic product end dates. We've had requests for this feature in the past, so I'm going to be taking this interaction to our Product Development Team, so they can see how helpful this functionality would be. Though I can't comment on a timeframe on when we may see this functionality built and added to your Admin, the more requests we get for this feature, the sooner we may see it come down the pipeline!

Thanks again for your time. If you have any additional questions for me, please just follow up here and let me know.

Hey there, @jasonck74. Thanks so much for coming to the Shopify Community with your 'end-dating' inquiry. I hope you're doing well today!

Just so I can be entirely clear on your question here, can you provide more information on what you're referring to as 'end-dating' when it comes to products? Do you mean setting a timer for a product that will pull the product from the store automatically at a certain time? Is this a different type of functionality entirely? I'm just looking to get some additional information here so I can reach out to the appropriate folks on your behalf regarding this.

If you could follow up with me explaining 'end-dating' a bit more, that would be great!

That is correct, I am needing the ability to create a Product and end date/set a period of availability for purchase by whomever, then once that time has passed it is no longer available. We use the function throughout the year several times for our organization such as RSVP for events, sponsorship etc. Trying to manages manually would be difficult since we have to take West coast into consideration, but web master is located on East.

what would I put into the workflow to create an end to a listing? I'm trying to set it up, so an Item is only listed for 7 days and then it is Archived.
