Hello together,

I had domain mydomain.de now I changed it to mydomain.com. I can not register mydomain.de again unfortenately.

Now I have many links from inside and outside with "de". How can I manage to have this correctly redirected to "com".

Hope anybody can help.

Thank you Sabine.

Hi @Beemohr

To manage the redirection from your old domain (mydomain.de) to your new domain (mydomain.com), you should set up 301 redirects. This type of redirect is a permanent redirect that tells search engines and users that the page has moved to a new location.

You can read from the following Shopify help articles:

I hope this helps.

Hi Yvonne,

I saw this but can't find: "Redirect all traffic to this domain"

  1. Set your new domain as the primary domain. Select the "Redirect all traffic to this domain" option to tell Shopify to create all the 301 redirects you need. Once complete, traffic to domainA.com/products/your-amazing-product will be redirected to domainB.com/products/your-amazing-product and so on for all the URLs on your site.

To set a redirection when changing domains, use a 301 redirect in your server's .htaccess file (Apache) or configure it in your DNS or hosting settings. This ensures users and search engines are directed to the new domain while preserving SEO value.
