How to set up different shipping rates for UK mainland and offshore regions?

I can guarantee this has been asked numerous times, and presumably still to be actioned by shopify, but i’ll continue anyway

Very simply, I ship products to the UK, with free shipping to UK mainland only. I need to set up an additional standard shipping rate (a flat rate would do for now) for offshore UK regions, e.g. isle of man, Northern Ireland, etc, as they cost a lot more to deliver to. This would show upon checkout once the customer confirms their shipping address. Ideally, I’d be able to customise this rate by postcode, but i’ll not get ahead of myself.

Assuming this is still not possible within shopify, I’d be very grateful if anyone could suggest a reasonably priced way to achieve this.

This certainly is available in Shopify; you just need to set up separate shipping zones for the locations. I believe the only one that isn't available is Scottish Highlands, but you can certainly do it for Northern Ireland and the Isle Of Man.

Thankyou for the reply. Whilst I can see Northern Ireland as an option, I can’t see an Isle of Man, Channel Islands or other offshore islands, and of course Scottish Highlands, as you pointed out. I’ve attached a photo (excuse the quality), to ensure i’m in the right place.

Hi David,

We're in the process of setting up our store and I just thought i'd reach out in case you're still having issues. Channel Islands (Guernsey and Jersey) and Isle of Man are setup in Shopify as their own countries and so that's why you can't view them under United Kingdom.

Agreed, however, that they urgently need a way to separate Scottish Highlands & Islands as well as Isle of Wight from the rest of mainland England/Scotland.

Posting this to help clarify for others. Isle of Man does not fall under the United Kingdom Market in Shopify, so does not appear as a selectable option. You need to enable Isle of Man as a Market, make it active and then head back to Shipping. Once there, you can configure shipping costs etc for the Isle of Man Market. Hope that helps!

The PH MultiCarrier Shipping Label app helps to set up custom shipping rates based on destination. It allows you to create custom shipping rules based on a variety of factors, including location, weight, and order total.

To set up a custom shipping rate for offshore UK regions, you can create a shipping rule in the app that applies only to orders being shipped to those regions. You can set a flat rate for these orders or use the app's advanced features to set up more complex shipping rules based on weight, order total, or other factors.

Once you've set up your custom shipping rule, it will be automatically applied to any orders being shipped to the specified regions, and the rate will be displayed at the checkout once the customer enters their shipping address.

I’ve had a quick play with this app and I believe I need to link to a carrier for full functionality. Mainstream carriers don’t seem to do furniture, so I want to be able to set custom shipping rate for zones of my choosing with no integration to a carrier. Maybe i’ve not delved deep enough and missed this. I’ll look again when I get chance.

Yes, you are correct, you need it to integrate your carrier to configure the custom shipping rates.

What courier or shipping companies does Shopify use to ship bulk products? For example, if I order the products in bulk, how much percentage would be for the shipping while paying for the product? If it's high, should we go with local courier companies as I'm living in the UK, Birmingham, and want a day courier company to ship on the same day in Birmingham?
