All things Shopify and commerce
When I tap on Orders, I see a list of the orders. But, it doesn't show the item name (line item) for each order.
I'd like to add the item name in show up in the red circled space.
(Blue boxes cover customer names to protect their privacy)
The list only has the name of the customer and number of items ordered. I would have to tap into each order have to see which item was ordered.
It's super slow and tedious to need to go in one by one.
Is there a way to display the name of the item in the orders list?
We have hundreds of items and it's a pain when we pick items from shelves.
Needing to go into each order to see item name is slow.
Amazon's order list has item name and it's super easy to pick.
There's not a way to do that exactly, but here are some ideas:
If you're on the web (not the mobile app), you can hover over the items to show them.
If you tag orders with the line items, you can search them later, and save the link of the tag filter as a shortcut if you view it often.
And if you want to have orders get tagged automatically with the name of the product, you can use Order Automator. You can either create rules and name the tags how you want, or you can have the app create a dynamic rule (like tagging each order with each line item name).
Or another thing you could do, is open orders in new tabs... That makes for a little quicker workflow because you can open em all up in new tabs without leaving the order page, then inspect the details of each order in a tab. Little harder on mobile but you might be able to press hold and open in a new tab group.
Thanks JoesIdeas.
So if I do this:
"And if you want to have orders get tagged automatically with the name of the product, you can use Order Automator. You can either create rules and name the tags how you want, or you can have the app create a dynamic rule (like tagging each order with each line item name)."
Will the item's name show in the orders list in shopify mobile app?
I'm somewhat surprised that shopify is missing something as simple as the item's name from orders list.
This is something that Amazon has and I shouldn't need to use 3rd party app to add.
@BillyBingo no, there's not a way to edit the UI of the Shopify admin panel. The only way you could achieve that is by building a custom app that mimicks how the Shopify admin looks, but customizing it to show the way you want.
Agree 100%.
The best thing I would recommend is install an order picking app. Basically highlight all of the orders and itll show on your more actions tab. Then use the app to print a picking list so itll show every item you have to pull. Its what I did when we used to have hundreds of orders to package and it worked great.
Thanks. Do you have one that you recommend?
I know this post was a while ago, but I had the same issue and found a solution for anyone else looking, and it saves money. There is a free Shopify app integration for shipping called "Pirate Ship". Just download it and activate it. When you open the app it takes you to the Pirate Ship site, but you can import all your orders with the click of a button. The readout there does give the items, and they are easily visible.
It has the added benefit of having less expensive shipping. It's very easy to use.
Note: I am not affiliated with them in any way shape or form other than being a patron and a fan of their service.
Is there still not a solution for this? I use multiple interfaces for my company and Shopify is the only one that doesn't show a thumbnail of the products. As we put orders together we'd like to just visually see what each customer has ordered, not hover over the items, or create multiple tabs.
Please fix this out dated user interface Shopify.
Thanks for sharing your feedback! We have notified our developers of the request so they can consider it for future updates.

It is extremely user unfriendly for small businesses that the Order screen doesn't show the item ordered. It is always another step to confirm which product the order is for, which is time/money. Instead of Shopify developers offering all this new AI crap, can't they spend two minutes to add a column to the most basic page of their interface? Seems lazy or intentional so we have to look for third-party solutions. Every other seller's platform has this feature.
