All things Shopify and commerce
I have noticed that returns in the sales reports only include the returned orders, but not the outgoing 'exchange' sale if the product is exchanged rather then refunded. We do a lot of both exchanges and refunds, and i need to be able to understand the amount of $ refunds we're giving customers but i can't do this as i cannot separate out those returns that are actually exchanged for another product (therefore no funds are returned to the customer). Is there a way i can identify them by adding another column to the report (although i think i have pretty much ticked all of them!) or is there another report i can use to get this information? Surely other shops are trying to understand this side of their business?
Hi There,
Shopify doesn't have a good way to separate out changes from returns. As you can imagine it's actually kind of tricky.
Our Report Toaster app can help. We've helped a lot of retail clients account for exchanges, even those that happen at different locations. If interested, please feel free to install the app and reach out to support to get you setup with the reports you need.
Hello @Annie-Australia,
If you're still seeking a way to track refunds and exchanges with reports, consider using Report Pundit. We offer a free 14-day trial during which we can work on your requirements. We also want to highlight that we provide a very affordable reporting solution.
Thanks
Hi Annie! I am also having the same problem with my business and our reporting. I would be interested to hear how you solved this problem. Please email me at chloe@alanamariajewellery.com to connect. It would be greatly appreciated. x
