All things Shopify and commerce
I'm having trouble setting up my page and getting people there. My blog is the first page that appears and I really want the shop to be the opening page.. I can't seem to work out how to do this. Any advice?
Hey @NikkiYoung!
Do you mind sharing your website URL? I'd be more than happy to take a look and see what's going on with your blog.
It’s also great to hear you are wanting to implement some tools to help drive traffic to your store as this is a very important part of running an online business. I'd love to share more curated suggestions but in the meantime here are a few general tips:
Does your website appear on major search engines like Google or Bing? To verify your website’s rankings, you can use Google Search Console in which the rank of your website per keyword will be shown. Then you can be aware of how your content website is performing, how the SEO program is becoming effective to drive traffic, and whether your store is on the right track or not.
Clear product description focuses the customer’s attention on important information. Misleading meta titles, weak descriptions, or irrelevant opening paragraphs will increase bad bounce. Imagine, if you enter a website and are expecting to receive some information, but the web presents none of the related information pieces. Furthermore, weak contents are also a reason that visitors don’t stick with your website. A well-organized paragraph with the main content in the first sentence, key information summarized in bullet points, and qualified photographs to demonstrate the contents visually will create a good impression to the new audiences.
Shopify Learn is my favorite resource for video courses, tutorials, and live workshops. There is always new content added, and you can learn many important subjects, from marketing to goal setting.
I found a great course for you on how to get more customers, increase conversions and grow your sales on Shopify:

It looks like you are using the free Shopify Minimal Theme which is great!
If you would like for your products to appear above your "News" section on your homepage, you need to make some minor adjustments via your theme editor. You have the option to completely hide the blog/news section or drag it to a different spot on your homepage:
I highly suggest having a play around with your theme editor to familiarize yourself with the functions. We have so many resources to help you along as well, check out our YouTube channel for step by step tutorials:
Currently, your full catalog of products can be accessed via the "Catalog" button in the top right-hand corner. Would you like all of these products to appear on your homepage or just a selected few? You are able to create a collection and showcase a chosen few products if you wanted! For further guidance take a look at our instructional video below:
