I have not received nor can I access my 1099 form

I closed my  shopify account and shopify has not sent me my 1099 forms and they say i have to access settings in my account but i closed my account so i have no access to my settings nor live person support. why cant shopify just email me my forms like all the other companies I work with. This is illegal to keep my forms like this. Can anybody help me get my forms through email

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I'm happy to provide some information regarding taxes, to ensure this gets resolved. 

 

Regardless of whether your shop has been closed, an email will be sent to the Account Owner emails address if the shop qualifies. To qualify for this form, shops are required to meet the federal threshold. This includes receiving more than 20,000 USD in gross payments and having more than 200 transactions on Shopify Payments. To learn more about this criteria, you can check out our 1099-K Forms document as it touches on this further.  

 

If you have qualified and received a email from Shopify, you will want to connect with us directly. This will allow our support team to get you authenticated, as we wouldn't have access to any account specific information through the Community. Our support team will be able to ensure that you gain access to that document as soon as possible. It's important to note that while we don't have a specific release date, forms are expected to be available by the end of February. 

 

To connect, you can:

 

  • Head over to our Help Center.

  • In the virtual assistance chat box, please type I can't log in.

  • This will populate a few resources, where you can wait a few moments until you see the I still need help option.

  • Click Account Support.

  • Scroll down until you see the option to chat with an advisor.
