All things Shopify and commerce
Hi, I’m 15 and I’m in the process of setting a up a Shopify store and Shopify payments, my parents are ok to attach there name and proof of identity but are not ok with attaching their payment details for payment, I was wandering if I could use their proof of identity and my bank account?

Hey @Cooper5274 ,
It's great that you're setting up a Shopify store! Regarding Shopify Payments, the account holder's name, proof of identity, and payment details need to match for compliance and security reasons. Shopify requires that the account holder be able to verify their identity, and they also need to link a valid bank account to receive payouts.
Here's what you can do:
Proof of Identity: You can use your parents' identity verification documents if they are willing to help you with that part, as Shopify may ask for government-issued ID for age verification and compliance.
Bank Account: Unfortunately, Shopify Payments requires that the bank account linked to your store matches the name of the person who is the account holder (i.e., the person who owns the Shopify Payments account). Since your parents are not comfortable using their payment details, it may be challenging to link your bank account without having your parents' bank details attached, as it needs to be verified for payouts.
Since you’re under 18, Shopify typically requires that a parent or legal guardian be the account holder. You could consider having your parents set up the store and payments in their name (with their details) and then work on managing the store and its operations.
Alternatively, you might also want to explore setting up Shopify Payments under their account and use other methods like PayPal for payment processing (if allowed in your country).
Let me know if you need more help or details!
