All things Shopify and commerce
My buddy bought a hoodie from our store, about a week later he starts getting charged for Uber which isn't in our area. We haven't figured out for sure if it was our site. Does anyone know if it could be our site and how I could possibly fix it?
I am sorry to hear that your friends card has been compromised, I understand this was around the same time as he bought something from your online store.
If you are using Shopify's integrated checkout and one of our payment gateway partners (not a "hijack" that redirects away from Shopify) then the chances of their being a breach in our checkout security is very very low. Shopify checkout is used on millions of merchant stores and a breach of any kind in our checkout security would be very impactful.
The most likely cause was an alternate website, a virus on their device, or they used their card on a modified card reader in a store. There are many ways that credit card information could be compromised.
