Hey @Siam_Hossen
Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community.
If you're encountering difficulties, it could be due to the account you logged in with. Make sure to use the account that was used to create the development store.
P.s: Had encountered the same issue earlier.
Hi, @Siam_Hossen!
Great question!
Please follow my steps below in order to do this:
As mentioned by @SwetaM, please make sure you're logged into the correct account for the store you want to delete! If you cannot see any options to delete the store in question, then please reach out to our Partner's Support Portal by clicking on this link.

I archived my dev store in my Partners account but I still see the store listed in my "normal" account where I have my prod store.
Is this normal?
Hey, @httpete!
Thanks for joining this thread!
Would you be able to share a screenshot here so that I can investigate further and check if this is normal behaviour?
Thanks a lot!

Hi @Maz
On the home page all stores are listed, even if they're archived:
But I'm also wondering why there is no way to completely delete a development store?
I mistakenly created a dev store in our Partners account, when I should have created it with in our Shopify Plus organization. Now the URL the company wanted me to use is unavailable for the Organization Development store because it's used in the Partner account 😅
Hopefully there's a way around this issue?
Thank you!
Erin
Hey, @phester17!
Thanks for your response.
For some context, you can only archive the stores not fully delete them from view! I appreciate this is not ideal, and I will share this as feedback for our developers to take a look at. The only workarounds would be to transfer the store OR move the store to a paid plan store and cancel the subscription.
Hopefully this is something that they look into changing in the near future!

I'm encountering the same issue as the OP. I want to delete my Shopify account altogether. But it's preventing me from doing that because I have a development store. When I go to deactivate it, I'm unable to. Even after archiving the store, I cannot proceed with the account deletion.
I didn't even create this store. It was automatically created when I first joined Shopify.
This is quite frustrating. It appears that I can't transfer this shop either because it's a test store. Since having to pay to simply delete a development store that I didn't even create is unacceptable, I hope a straight-forward option will be added soon.
Hi @devuru,
Thank you for reaching out. Development stores are not intended to be deleted or cancelled, only archived, and do not cost anything in their state so can left alone or ignored if you no longer wish to use them. If you're looking to stop using Shopify altogether as a Partner, you can close your Partner account and request deletion of all of your data via our privacy controls page.

Hi @Victor, thanks for the follow-up. Noted. I have a relevant question about account deletion. I have another Shopify account under a different email and I wish to completely delete it. I have deactivated the stores under it and that account is no longer associated with any partner orgs. I submitted a data deletion request but I received the following response.
It says I have an active account so the deletion is rejected. I don't know what that means. Since I'm no longer part of any partner orgs, I can't contact the partner support. The store support informed me that all my stores are deactivated (if I had active stores, I wouldn't have been able to submit the data deletion request in the first place). So I'm at a dead-end here. Any guidance on this situation?
Hi @devuru,
Is this other store you're referring to a development store as well or one started by you as a merchant? If it's the former, is the Partner account you opened the store with still active or has it been closed?

Hi @Victor ,
I understand the rationale for Shopify not wanting to enable the deletion of stores, but rather just archive them. However, I think it should be suggested to the UX department to update the UI so that that"archived" stores do not appear in the dropdown, rather segregated to all stores or some other category that enables it to be out of site and hence out of mind.
Hey, @Streeter!
Thanks so much for that feedback, it's very helpful. I've passed it along to our developers for consideration.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
