Improving blog and creating connection with products, collections, and tags

The native blog feature is quite limited, overly simple and completely disconnected from the main e-commerce side of things.

It would be really helpful to integrate products and collections within a Blog Post or Page. In my opinion, this is a very important and basic feature an e-commerce's blog should have.

We write about our products and naturally want to showcase them within the articles (blog or page) to drive awareness and sales.

It would be really cool to have a powerful drop & drag editor within our pages and blog posts to:

• embed products or collections within the text
• add a table of contents with anchors
• collapsible sections
• Plus many others (too many to list)

Having to pay monthly for an app or circumventing these limitations with pictures or hyperlinked text (aesthetically unpleasant, not practical, difficult to scale or work quickly) is quite disappointing.

I know Shopify is an ecomm platform that focuses development resources on the main "shopping" side of things but the truth is that information pages, whether a Shipping Info page or a blog post, are just as important.

In hopes that this post leads to a better blog and page builder for all of us 🙂

I feel your frustration, bro.

Metafields have been introduced with that in mind - to pacify requests for different data plug-ins into different content formats until the core app priorities reach you.

If you modify the blog template and plug-in metafields where you need them, then you can edit the blog posts' metafields in bulk through a spreadsheet app or something.
