We sell beads bags on our Shopify store, Tillie Beads, and we're experiencing an indexing issue in Google Search Console. Some of our pages are marked as "Crawled - currently not indexed." How can we fix them?

Step-by-Step Fix for "Crawled – Currently Not Indexed" (for Shopify)

  1. Review the Pages Not Indexed

Go to: Google Search Console → Pages → "Crawled - currently not indexed". Click into the list to see which URLs are affected.

  1. Inspect Each URL

Use the URL Inspection Tool in GSC to check: If the page is mobile-friendly, If it's returning a 200 status, If there are canonical or no index tags blocking it

  1. Check Page Content on Shopify

Go to the Pages or Products section in your Shopify Admin.

Make sure the page has:

Valuable and unique content, Product descriptions (not duplicated from other pages)

SEO title and meta description added

  1. Request Indexing Again

After fixing the pages, return to GSC and click “Validate Fix”.

Or go to URL Inspection → Request Indexing for each important page.

  1. Submit Sitemap Again

In GSC, go to Sitemaps and resubmit:

/ sitemap.xml

Hello, this status indicates that Googlebot has successfully accessed and crawled the page. However, Google has decided to temporarily not include that particular page in its main search index. Based on our experience helping stores optimize their structure and presence, here are some key things you can do to encourage Google to index these pages:

Improve the Quality and Uniqueness: (Google values pages that provide distinct information. Collection pages often need to be more than a grid of products.)

  • Add unique introductory text: Write a descriptive paragraph or two at the top of your beaded bag collection page. Explain what makes these bags unique to Tillie Beads – discuss the style (tote, clutch?), material, craftsmanship, or ideal use. Help visitors who land here understand the value of the collection.
  • Optimize product snippets: Make sure the product titles and short descriptions displayed on your collection pages are clear, compelling, and accurately represent the items. Check out Google’s SEO-friendly Title and Meta description guide and give it a try.

Use Internal Links: Internal links act as breadcrumbs, guiding both users and Google through your site and signaling which pages are most important. If you have a blog on your Shopify store, write relevant posts (like styling tips for bead bags or seasonal trends) and link directly to your /collections/bead-bag page.
Use the URL Inspection Tool & Request Indexing

  • Google Search Console’s URL inspection tool is incredibly helpful. First, use it to check if Google has reported any technical issues (like noindex tags or canonical issues) for the specific URL. If so, fix them first. (However, as far as I can check, there is no sign that your page has noindex or canonical issues)
  • Once you've made the improvements (as suggested above), paste the URL back into the tool and use the "Request Indexing" feature. This will prompt Google to schedule a new crawl and re-evaluate the page based on your updates.

Hope this helps!
