We're gifting some free product to influencers, but are not sure what the best way to reflect that transaction with our shopify orders and inventory tracking. Does anyone have advice for best practices here?

What I would suggest you do is to create a draft order and apply a 100% discount to it. This will remove the product from your inventory while at the same time will not add incorrect figures to your reports. You'll also have the option to purchase a shipping label so you can send the item to the influencer.

The app Carro can make your free influencer orders super easy with Influencer Checkout. The Carro app allows influencers to request the products that they really want, then you can approve or deny the product requests in your Carro Dashboard. If the request is approved, it is automatically created as a free checkout order in your Shopify orders and marked as coming from Carro. Then it can be fulfilled through your normal processes.

I created these draft orders but also marked them as paid/fulfilled and now they're tracking towards our average sales amount, which we don't want.
If I save them as drafts and unpaid will it not count towards the average sales amount?

The trick is to add the items to the order, add customer details to the order for shipping, and make sure you discount the order by 100%. Then add your free shipping option, and only then mark the order as paid. If you don't discount it by 100% shopify will assume you've been paid in cash or other, and will count it towards your sales. Also don't forget to add customer details in before marking the order as paid as you won't be able to afterwards, and you won't be able to easily print a shipping label.

Hi There - that what I have been doing as well, however that shows up as "discounts" in our overall reporting while also being counted as revenue by our email Marketting platform (kalviyo). I am hoping for a solution where we can track regular discounting separately from gifts that are 100% discounted to send influencers. has anyone come up with a solution to this specifically?
