Is advanced plan required for location-based shipping cost calculation?

I need for customers to view their shipping costs based on their location. My product comes in quantity of 9 units. So if someone purchase 9 units and they live in LA, I need the system to give them specific pricing vs someone who purchases 90 units and lives in NY.  From my understanding I have to be on the advanced Shopify plan or I have to pay an additional $30 a month for this to happen? 

Before I delete my Shopify account and move over to Wix. I just wanted to verify that the information I have found is correct. Because this seems crazy expensive for small start up companies. It feels like Shopify no longer wants the little guys money.

Hello @PamM,

You cannot set up shipping rates based on quantity.

Alternatively, you can configure shipping rates based on weight or price. Also, you can configure different rates based on shipping zones.

This can be done in the Basic Shopify plan without moving to the advanced plan or without using an app & without enabling Carrier Calculated Shipping.

I am trying to figure out how to set up shipping costs for thousands of products and feeling confused by this too. I was told to do Carrier Calculated Shipping, I'd have to upgrade to a more expensive plan. But I don't want to pay $600 more annually just for calculated shipping.

If you are using Shopify Flat rate shipping, you do not require CCS and can be done on the basic Shopify plan.

If I use the flat rate pricing it defeats my purpose of what I am trying to do. I need to be able to give specific shipping costs based on amount order and address it’s being delivered to. Is there a way to do this on Shopify?

In that case, you would need Carrier Calculated Shipping enabled on your plan.
