Is it possible to allow another store to sell my items?

Hi,

I am curious whether it is possible to allow a shopify seller to sell the items I have listed on my store in a way such that the sales are kicked back directly to my shopify automatically. I currently have my products sourced through printify but I would like to allow another store to sell my items. Is there an app/other way to do this? If there is a way to do this while splitting profit in some type of way I would greatly appreciate advice on how to do this. If this is not possible, I think it would be a good way to integrate shopify businesses and boost sales via collaboration by different parties. What do you think?

This would not be possible, no. You can of course give other sellers permission to sell your products, but it is not possible to connect two separate Shopify stores in this manner or have payouts split between two different accounts. In the scenario you have outlined, the seller would be the one receiving the funds for the order and they would then have to manually send any commission or split payments to yourself, outside of Shopify. 

I can see why this sort of setup may be beneficial but this is not something currently attainable on the Shopify platform. However, there is an app called Multi Vendor Marketplace that does allow for different sellers to occupy one store and for commission to be issued to these sellers, so that may be an app worth considering.

I find your answer very useful, as I am also interested in selling products from other shops (Shopify and non-Shopify shops) - Thank you very much!

Could you please advise on how I can do that? The products of the shops, which I want to sell, are not part of Ali Express or Amazon or Oberlo. My questions are the following:

1) How can I export their products, so that I can import them to my shop? Can I do it myself or should I request them to do it for me?

2) Once the above step 1 is done, is the customer order process automated, so that when my client orders a product, this order is automatically forwarded to the other (original) shop? And what if they delete/run out of stock of a product, am I going to be notified?

Thank you for reaching out and I'm glad to hear that you found my prior advice helpful.

In terms of your question, you'll first want to ensure that the store(s) from whom you wish to sell products from are open to and happy for another site to feature their products. Some businesses may not take kindly to another store selling their products without their permission, and may allow the sales of their products to be made by resellers they have approved themselves. I would suggest contacting the store(s) directly to ask about this first and foremost.

If the store or supplier is happy for you to list their products, they would hopefully then provide you with a list of their products in a CSV format which can be imported into Shopify. This is commonplace for suppliers who sell business-to-business and not business-to-consumer, as they're set up to provide merchants with access to their product information so they can be sold on the merchant's site.

The benefit of using apps such as Oberlo is that it streamlines the process of placing orders with suppliers when you receive an order on your own store, and in terms of managing inventory. If you do not use an app such as this these things would either be done via a different system—this varies by supplier—or manually. You'll want to do your due diligence when choosing your suppliers and making sure you understand how you'll be informed of inventory changes and how you'll place orders when they come in.

Hi Victor, I appreciate the answer. However... it’s not a satisfying one. I truly don’t understand why Shopify doesn’t invest in a native way for one store selling through another. Which promotes merchants to cooperate more often with capsule collections.

Thank you for your comment and your feedback on this. I will state that since my last post in this thread, Shopify has launched new B2B features which helps Shopify Plus merchants sell their products to other merchants using Shopify. While this isn't exactly what you're looking for, these features were released to help make it easier for merchants to do business together using the Shopify platform.

Great, that sounds good. As a note, Handshake was sunset in October and all B2B features are now offered via the Shopify admin directly (although there are some third-party apps that allow for additional wholesale features).

I have been searching for some help as to how API's work and came across your replies to a similar scenario I have about wanting to show/sell my shopify inventory elsewhere. 

I sell on a UK platform called www.loveantiques.com and I have to manually duplicate all my shopify inventory to my shop page on there which is too time consuming.  They have told me I can set up an API which is a feed transfer and I have requested a 'write' API token ( to import from shopify to love antiques)

However, I have no idea how to add this to my store? Is this something you can help with?

we would like to open a Shopify store (Store 1) to sell directly our products but also using some of those products as ancillary items in another website (Store 2  - not a Shopify one) using Shopify API. In this way, we hope that will be possible to sell Product A (existing only in Store 2) together with ancillary Product B (existing only in Store 1) .

That’s exactly what I’m thinking.   If not now, then soon.   I, too, consign items and also have them on my Shopify.  If I could just transfer the photo and information it would save a lot of manual labor not to have to re-enter your info twice.
