All things Shopify and commerce
Their email i noticed after purchasing is this
store+89820397905@t.shopifyemail.com
However they lied when their latencyvision.com site stated next day delivery and it's been almost 5 days now. And their site failed to tell anyone it's actually in China with an Ireland phone number. They continue to ignore my repeated question on the next day delivery. I even paid extra for shipping on top of that.
Hi @Scottie79er
Welcome to the community and sorry to hear about your bad experience.
I can not be 100% sure it is a scam site but there are a few red flags that for me would be enough to skip and search products elsewhere.
A first red flag is a price: it is too good to be true, that big of a discount, or just a marketing trick. If you search images with Google Lens you will find a bunch of results from ALiExpress and prices there is from $12 to $35. Next is that buy more get more discount, while that is also a good marketing trick a lot of scammers do use it. They do not care if you buy one or 50 if they do not send anything that is just free money. And use of words like hurry, and clock to make sense of urgency is another good marketing tactic.
Another red flag is that the domain is not even a month old. Scammers often get a new domain when one store gets flagged and closed. Still, it could be legitimate business but they use good tactics like they really know what they are doing. I bet they launched multiple social network accounts with campaigns that draw visitors in and the website is solid so they do get sales. Beginners would struggle with this as you might see here there are everyday topics with "No sales" in the topic title.
For me, the store needs to have clear business details, address, and phone with email from the domain and not Outlook. You already called them so no help there.
What you can do, is try to report them with an "issue with an order" at
https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/report-a-merchant
Also, try to stop the transaction with your bank. They could be just dropshipping so it can take a while if they are real business but they did lie about delivery times.
Good luck and do update us if is a scam or not.
Yeah, it is a bit tricky. Shopify policy is 30 days and bank policy could be less than 30 days.
But you should be safe, they do not have access to your debit card.
Next-day delivery from China is pretty hard to fulfill. Dropshipping suppliers can have storage in Europe but again it is hard.
And they do know that and do not disclose it.
Its defenetly a scam. I ordered external screen on Jan. 13th. and yesterday, I received the package. No kidding it was just a little postcard dropped into my mailbox titled "To my dear" and that's it. Where should I report this and where can I turn to get my money back (if its' even possible)?
it may not be scam
Hey there,
Brian from OpenThinking here!
It definitely looks suspicious. I’ve seen that this website used to be called sylvamoon.com, and there are a lot of negative reviews on TrustPilot: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/sylvamoon.com.
I’d recommend reporting the store to Shopify here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/fraud , and also contacting your bank about the charge—sometimes they can help you dispute it and potentially issue a refund. If the seller isn’t responding and their delivery promises are false, that’s usually a big red flag.
It is definitely scam. Don't buy anything from this website. They changed their name from sylvamoon com, which now redirects to latencyvision. And, I got a single postcard from them instead of a couple of devices I ordered. Obviously, I filed a complaint to my bank, which should get me those $50 back. Please do the same through your bank ASAP.
I think we have been duped. Exactly, what you describe above is what happened to me. It was mentioned that the delivery is in 72 hours and I thought it was actually in the Netherlands. Everything indicated that it was in the Netherlands but immediately after paying, everything changed and now it was China and the shipping was China Post. I even tried to track the package but nothing was adding up. Then today, all over a sudden, the website is off, the tracking website is off and I can't find them anywhere.
Same thing just happened to me, ordered 2 screens like a week ago and until now nothing arrived, no mail no nothing. So i went to check the tracking number and the page... everything is gone. I paid trough Revolut app so I hope maybe they can do something to help out.
Everyone is correct that it is a scam. I ordered a few things and very quickly realized something was amiss. I immediately jumped to my email to write them requesting a full refund. When I suspected it was a scam and the website was still working, I took screenshots of their policies. I look on the website now and it's gone. So far, they have been replying to me through email though, thankfully...
Update: they asked if I wanted to escalate the issue and that their legal team would look at the terms of return and I said there are no terms because i didn't get the order and I want a refund. They have not replied, and all of their website is gone.
I just had the same issue , ordered the screens. No tracking. Was provided. They havent delivered it’s been 2 weeks. And now i have add from a web site that are starting to popup and i suspect that they are rebranding and scamming again. It’s the same price. Same product. Same website layout different name.
Thank you so much Rairishad. These are indeed the same people. Let everyone know that this company selling the 16-in TOUCHSCREEN MONITOR is a scam. It gets as much money as it can and never delivers. In order to keep your hopes up that something is being shipped and you keep tracking, they send a postcard. After a while, they disappear and rebrand and do it allover again.
Their new fake website is https://shadow-atom.com/products/16-in-touchscreen-monitor?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid&campa...
@Shopify please help us
Hi everyone
Scammers will continue to make new stores but it is important when they do pop out to be reported as many times as possible.
So use
https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/report-a-merchant
And under Fraud fill details.
And you all know by now red flags, but if the monitor is priced the same as a postcard, it is most likely you will get a postcard 🙂
And you notice a pattern like they want you to buy more, so for this monitor, if you buy 4 you will get the same "old" price, no sense at all.
Take care.
