All things Shopify and commerce
I'm seeing the following message on my dashboard:
Sales tax will be applied to your Shopify bills as of November 28, 2021
Shopify is required to charge Sales Tax to merchants in Colorado. Since your business address is in Colorado, applicable Sales Tax will be added to your Shopify bills as early as November 28, 2021
My question is whether Shopify is now remitting sales tax for me? I report quarterly to state and city, so if Shopify will now be taking care of paying and reporting my sales taxes (like Etsy does), then I need to know so that I don't pay taxes twice. Clarification on this point by Shopify would be appreciated. Thank you.

This is an accepted solution.
I think this means that they will be applying sales tax to your shopify monthly bill, not to the orders you receive on the site.

i.e., so they will be sending the state an aggregate amount based on the total of Colorado billings that have been paid to them, not to us.
Ah - got it. Thanks!
