Is there a way to install the FB Pixel without the FB app?

So back in the day you could simply put in the Pixel tracking code and it would work with your website, but now on the new Shopify stores you have to connect it with the FB app.

Is there any way to install the FB pixel WITHOUT using the app? Like can you manually integrate it into the pages?

My name is Lilith, I'm on the Social Care team at Shopify.

There definitely is a way to implement your Facebook pixel into the store without the Facebook Shop or app. You can follow the steps that Facebook has on their help center.

You can access your theme code by going to Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit Code.

Although you can install the pixel with code, I would recommend using the Facebook integration instead. The integration is supported by us and Facebook so you'd be covered for any issues there. Facebook Shop is a great way to integrate all of your Facebook needs for your business.

Remember to not add your pixel into the integration in the future. You'll want to remove your code before entering it into the app. Just something to keep in mind if you decide to use the app later on.

Speaking of Facebook, I realize that you're being proactive in getting your pixel installed to track your traffic and actions on your site. This is excellent! If you've not had a chance to look into retargeting techniques I would highly recommend our blog post on it here.

Retargeting will be the best use of Facebook Ads. You can certainly use the ads to bring in new traffic, but from experience and growing many businesses, the best return on investment for Facebook ads has been in retargeting. Getting visitors to come back to the site increases your chances of converting them every time. Give it a go!

@Vranklin I'm glad I was of help! Yes, you'll delete the code if you want to use the integration instead. Keep a copy of the steps you used to install them so you can refer back and remove the code you added.
