I recieved an email today stating that my website theme license was expired and I had 48 hours to provide an updated or my website would be suspended. Then I was notified that in order to gain the new license I would have to use a third party "partner" to upload all of the backend information at a cost. I"m assuming this is a hoax?
The email associated for this was a gmail: shopifylicensinghug@gmail.com

I can confirm that Shopify do not send communication via Gmail. For more information, please refer to this thread.
