hello! i got an email saying that this person was going to help me improve my store conversions and traffic... they didn't ask me for anything or saying that there were problems with any of my configurations but claiming that they just wanted to help me

is this a scam? the email is sophiamedia06@gmail.com

in cases like this, the person might not be a scammer and if possible they are mean to help, you can request for a LIVE VIDEO to see who you're dealing with

Have you ever heard of anyone else in this position? Because i did talk to them up to the point where they were asking me money… they showed me a certificate of excellence (or whatever) from a course and showed me a picture of their current accounts that they’re working on… I couldn’t really find too much about these accounts but some of them did exist and were active

People like that are more of freelancer who's trying to get clients to work for and get paid. so anything they show you isnt the issues but if you're willing to work with them, you can use some freelancing platform as that more safer than loosing your money. You money is safe on freelancing platforms so well.

Welcome to the community.

And yes that is most likely a scam. I mean, like 95% of emails you will get are potential scams. And they may know some bits, but enough to use some technical terms so it sounds legit. But in reality, they would  "fix" things that are not broken and just demand more and more money. Watch out as there will be tons of emails from "experts" that find all kinds of issues with your store, performance, Accessability score, SEO, and marketing.  Most of those emails are sent in bulk, and those who hook on it, they profit.  Be really careful who do give access to the store. Do not fall for "gurus" that do not even have a website but on Instagram, they claim they can get you 40K a week.

You know i did actually give him some money to start, nothing major, payment done through fiverr as well and something small to see what he could do and he has shown some results already by importing some products, SEO, and email marketing

I hope he did a good work for you and you didnt just give him any more for not really doing anything serious and as well some of them really do outstanding jobs but just make sure you see what you wanna pay for and dont be carried away with their post or anything they show you. Just check yourself okay
