Is this email about an unlicensed theme a scam?

I have received an email from email@em.shopify.com  and it may be a scam...it is telling me that my account is currently using an unlicensed version of a purchasable theme from Archetype themes available in the Shopify Theme Store and is at risk of suspension if you do not take action by Friday, January 13th. I am currently using 

Impulse version 2.5.2 and nowhere on my admin pages does it say there is a problem...the more I look into this, the more I think it is a scam. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's possible that the email you received is a scam. Shopify would not send an email that threatens the suspension of your store unless you take action by a certain date without providing any additional context or without giving you the chance to resolve the issue.

 

If you have any doubts or concerns about the authenticity of an email you receive, it's best to contact Shopify Support directly for confirmation. You can contact them through email, phone or live chat. They would be able to check if there is any issue with your store and would also inform you about the authenticity of the email.

 

It's important to be cautious when providing personal or financial information and never click on any links in an unsolicited email unless you're certain they're legitimate.

Hello I received the same email and my store was taken down over Christmas. It was restored right before new years and said all was good and no further action was needed and now I have the same message again yesterday. I didn't respond the first time because I thought it may be a scam. Trying to contact Shopify is a mission

I chatted with shopify yesterday and it was legit. I had to buy the theme or find a suitable free one. I ended up just buying the one I had. Good luck!

This is happening to me now.  No one is helping me! My site is down 😩

Just went through this after having the theme active for over a year with no issues! Even after removing the unauthorized theme, I still had no access to editing or republishing any theme.

 

I did the live chat and they were able give access. one thing they had me do was reply to the email with confirmation that the theme has been removed.

 

super frustrating to have to restart

I received the same message today. I am using "Dawn" which is a free theme, so I deleted the email. I would assume that any legitimate concern would show up as a message in my admin account?
